Old Town Community Church is Hiring a Child Care Worker Near Alexandria, VA

Position Summary: We are excited to welcome a childcare worker to our team for immediate hire.

  • The childcare worker will assist in our Sunday morning classrooms for children age 0 through 5th grade, alternating between our different classrooms depending on need.
  • In this position, the childcare worker will connect with and care for children during our Sunday morning classes, following the rhythms of the classroom and the lead teacher.
  • No lesson planning is required.
  • This is a part-time and in-person role from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Sunday mornings and the starting rate of pay is $15/hour.
  • Candidates should be available a minimum of two Sundays per month, and preference will be given to qualified candidates who are available all or most Sundays.

Description:

  • The successful candidate is energetic, attentive, and responsive to the needs of children and their parents.
  • While the candidate will always work with at least one other person, a successful candidate requires little or no supervision and is a strong communicator with parents as well as their staff supervisor and other staff and volunteers in the children’s ministry program.

Essential Functions:

  • Care for children in the church’s nursery, preschool, or elementary classrooms, rotating between classrooms depending on the needs of the children’s ministry program.
  • Support the lead teacher by helping with lesson activities as well as routine management and clean-up.
  • As needed, assist infants and small children in diapering and toileting needs.
  • As needed, communicate with parents during church service if a child needs parent support.
  • Communicate with the Lead Childcare Worker and the Director of Children’s Ministry about any needs or concerns that arise.
